The Lean Validation Playbook
So you have a great idea for a winning product and you're ready to get started with building, launching and making your millions!
Awesome! We commend your enthusiasm and we'd love to see you succeed. But from experience, things aren't quite that simple.
One of the biggest risks of building a product is to build the wrong thing. You'll pour months (or even years) into building it, only to realise that you just can't make it a success. Legions of failed startups would attest to that!
Hey, I'm Jon, a Londoner who's based in Asia. As the founder of Hanno, I spend my time supporting the rest of the team on project strategy, front-end development and UX design. We've had dozens of ideas for side projects over the years and validating our product ideas eventually became a natural starting point for us. It allowed us to take calculated risks and significantly reduce wasted effort. We wrote this Lean Validation Playbook to help entrepreneurs like yourself gain a deeper understanding of your product. More importantly, we want you to have a strong indication on whether it'll succeed, so you know you're focusing on an idea that's worth pursuing.
Hey, I'm Zsolt, a Hungarian UX designer living in Budapest. I have an entrepreneurial mindset and I spend my time building products. I work with startups and I write a lot about topics which interests me. My previous experiences inspired me to write the Lean Validation Playbook. My goal is to help startup founders build better business with reduced risk. Hopefully, this little book will help you to understand your product and market so you can build a successful business.
Why we're going lean
“Lean” in this case means that you’re moving swiftly to figure out what you’re going to build and how you’re going to build it with as few resources as possible. These resources might include time, money and effort. The lean startup methodology is advocated by Eric Reis, who has massively influenced the way we work through his book The Lean Startup.
In this short guide, you’ll learn how to validate a product-market fit, talk to users and hack together prototypes. The goal is to make sure your product idea is a viable one, which will save you time and money.
By the end of the process, you’ll be able to focus on building your product, confident that you have a higher chance of success!
Ready, steady, go
